SORTEM, in cooperation with FIAT-IFTA
and ALTIMA, is organizing a supervised
practical
embalming
workshop
in
Barcelona. This unique training course
aims to provide mortuary teams with
invaluable knowledge and hands-on
experience in the field.
The training course, the first of its kind, gives
priority to FIAT-IFTA members, reflecting the
commitment of the organization to support its
members and promote continuous professional
development in the funeral industry. The
FIAT-IFTA Board of Directors envisions this
training course as the starting point for a Global
Education Program, fostering skill improvement
for funeral professionals worldwide. It is their
hope that this initiative will inspire other
members to contribute to the development of
the industry on a global scale.
Led by three renowned trainers, Lucrezia Pecorella
from the United Kingdom, Marco Caraffini from
Italy, and Anwar El Amrani González from Spain
(responsible for Altima), the course will be conducted
primarily in English, with support in both Spanish
and Italian languages. This multilingual approach
ensures effective communication and inclusivity
among participants from diverse backgrounds.
The training program, designed specifically for
funeral professionals, focuses on practical learning
and knowledge-sharing. Under the guidance
and supervision of experienced professionals,
participants will have the opportunity to engage
in real-life case studies, enabling them to acquire
valuable skills in the preparation and preservation
of the deceased.
The workshop in Barcelona covers a comprehensive
range
of
advanced
embalming
techniques,
including both external and internal practices.
From essential aspects like washing and sanitary
disinfection to more complex procedures such
as injection, drainage, and instrument handling,
