At Cabré Junqueras, sustainability and adherence
to the UN’s 2030 Agenda are deeply embedded in
our DNA. Throughout our 120-year history, we have
consistently maintained a heightened awareness
of our environmental and social impact. This
commitment has driven us to continuously align our
business practices with the objectives outlined by the
UN, well before the formalization of the 2030 Agenda.
Our primary focus is on the families we serve,
as they are at the heart of everything we do. We are
committed to their social, economic, and cultural
well-being, adapting our services to meet their
unique needs.
Equally important is the care we provide to
our employees, ensuring equal opportunities,
a safe working environment, fair compensation,
and work-life balance. Continuous training and
professional development are essential components
of our operations, as our staff are central to the
compassionate care we offer grieving families.
In recent years, we have also prioritized
sustainability, making significant investments
to reduce our ecological footprint. This includes
managing emissions, reducing waste, and ensuring
that most of our materials are organic.
We have implemented a range of actions to support
these goals:
• Social Responsibility and Accessible Services:
We provide flexible payment options and charitable
services to ensure that vulnerable families have
access to dignified funeral services. Additionally,
our dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility
department regularly donates to nonprofits, such
as Cáritas, which work to combat food insecurity.
• Employee Welfare: All employees are equipped
with appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE) for handling bodies, and emotional support
is offered in particularly challenging situations.
Training on proper body handling, funeral practices,
and grief management is provided regularly.
Our extensive training programs are also shared
with other funeral service providers to help raise
industry standards.
• Gender Equality and Employee Empowerment:
We have made remarkable strides in gender
equality, particularly in operational departments.
Women now represent 48% of our workforce,
with a substantial increase in female employees
in funeral operations, growing from 1% to nearly
30% in just five years. Moreover, women hold 33%
of leadership positions in our company.
• Environmental Sustainability: Cabré Junqueras
is dedicated to reducing its ecological impact.
All of our caskets are eco-friendly, and we offer
a wide range of biodegradable urns, suited to
various ecosystems. We practice responsible water
conservation in our cemeteries and crematories,
and 50% of our incineration plants are equipped
with emission filtration systems that exceed state
and regional regulations. Additionally, we have
installed solar panels at all of our funeral homes,
further reducing our energy consumption and
carbon footprint. Over 75% of our vehicle fleet
is electric, including hearses, collection vans, and
company cars, reflecting our commitment to
reducing emissions and promoting sustainability.
• Cultural Adaptation: We ensure that our funeral
services are culturally sensitive, assisting families
from various backgrounds in honouring their loved
ones according to their traditions.
Through a steadfast commitment to sustainability,
inclusivity, and the well-being of both families and
employees, Cabré Junqueras is proud to contribute
meaningfully to the UN’s Sustainable Development
Goals.
